Sean Penn and Robin Wright Divorcing

This is really a shock. After eleven years of marriage, Sean Penn and long time wife Robin Wright are getting a divorce. In a world where divorce is an everyday thing and being in the news is normal, Sean Penn has been one of the few actors who hated that whole scene. I am sure he is hating this post, but I just gotta report it! Sorry, Sean, but if you are looking for a good woman, I am available! I have loved you for a very long time.

John Edwards' Hollywood Fans

It looks like Barack Obama is not the only presidential candidate who has star power behind him. Danny Glover has been a  long time supporter, as has Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon. Glover has made several campaign trips with Edwards, including a visit to New Orleans earlier this year, where the two helped build homes destroyed by hurricane Katrina.

In a society which places high value on the opinions of celebrities, the presidential race could look more like Hollywood Squares than anything else, huh?

Pakistani Terrorists Assassinate Bhutto

There seems to be no such thing as democracy allowed today in Pakistan. Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated by a suicide bomber as she left a campaign rally. At least 20 others also died, according to police and witnesses.

Supporters of Bhutto rioted in the southern port city of Karachi after her killing, firing shots at police, setting tires and cars on fire and burning a gas station. At the hospital where Bhutto died, her supporters smashed glass and wailed, chanting slogans against President Pervez Musharraf. Musharraf blamed Islamic extremists and said he would redouble his efforts to fight them.

"This is the work of those terrorists with whom we are engaged in war," he said in a nationally televised speech. "I have been saying that the nation faces the greatest threats from these terrorists. ... We will not rest until we eliminate these terrorists and root them out."

The death of the charismatic former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 election into chaos and created fears of mass protests and an eruption of violence across the volatile south Asian nation. The attacker struck just minutes after Bhutto addressed a rally of thousands of supporters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. She was shot in the neck and chest by the attacker, who then blew himself up, said Rehman Malik, Bhutto's security adviser. Sardar Qamar Hayyat, a leader from Bhutto's party, said he was standing about 10 yard away from Bhutto's vehicle.

Quality Movies

I gotta tell you, I am impressed by the quality of the movies that are up for Golden Globes this year. Two of those movies that I really want to see are I AM LEGEND with Will Smith and THE GREAT DEBATERS with Denzel Washington. I AM LEGEND broke box office records with its opening, and THE GREAT DEBATERS is said to be the kind of movie where you leave feeling full of hope.  Have you seen either one of these? If so, stop by and tell us about it!

Thank God It's Over!

I am sorry, but I have never been so glad to see the end of a holiday in my life. It almost makes me wish they'd just cancel Christmas. It doesn't seem that people even care what the real meaning of Christmas is anyway. It's all about money and STUFF!

I breathed a huge sigh of relief last night when I went to bed, knowing that the sunrise would bring back the normalcy of regular life. What about you? Do you think I am being a Scrooge or do you feel the same?

Merry Christmas!

I am posting this message on all of my blogs this morning. I am making myself take a vacation from blogging. I have been working 6 and sometimes 7 days a week for a year and it is time to give it a rest. My mind and body need it. But it will be hard to stay off of the computer! Jeez! I didn't know how addicted I was to the internet until my computer crashed last month. However, if I do get online I have made myself a promise that it will only be for fun, no blogging until the day after Christmas, no reading about blogging or making money, no social networking unless its just for fun. I have turned into a workaholic and this workaholic MUST take some time off! I am going to read, watch movies, and eat! I have a bad cold and I am going to give myself the TLC I need so that I can be bright eyed and bushy tailed come the new year! 2008 is going to be a great year, I just feel it. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas and I will see you next week!

Josh Groban Breaks Elvis' Record!

Josh Groban's NOEL is number one for the fourth straight week, something that has never been accomplished by a holiday album. Elvis Presley set the previous record, three weeks, with 1957's Elvis' Christmas Album.

For the week ended Sunday, Noël topped the charts and broke the record books by selling 669,000 copies.

Groban has sold nearly 2.8 million copies of NOEL in its 10-week run. That makes NOEL the leader of the year's bestselling album, and if the trend holds, it'll become the first holiday album to top year-end sales.

Obama on Foreign Relations

I read this article at ABC News' Political Radar this morning that makes me live Barak Obama even better than I already did. In the article he states what he has claimed all along, that if he were president he would talk to the enemy. He has been criticized highly for this way of thinking, and that makes me worry much more than what he said. What ever happened to the saying, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?" Obama is of the belief that military action should be a last, not a first, resort. Can you say, "It's about time?" Someday, somewhere down the road we have got to get our politicians to stop thinking so much about power and ego and start considering peace and the loss of human life. Maybe Obama can make that happen.

Celebrity Edition of "The Apprentice"

I cannot WAIT for the January 10th first episode of the celebrity version of "The Apprentice!" I am a huge apprentice fan, but adding celebrities is going to really rock this show.  Contestants will not be vying for a job with Donald Trump, but will raise over a million dollars for their various charities throughout the season. Not only will the final winner be crowned the first 'Celebrity Apprentice,' but he or she will also have the honor of delivering a $250,000 bonus check to their designated charity.

HERE IS A LIST OF THE CANDIDATES:

Country music star TRACEY ADKINS, model/actress CAROL ALT, actor STEPHEN BALDWIN, Olympic gymnast NADIA COMANECI, Playboy Playmate TIFFANY FALLON, Olympic softball player JENNIE FINCH, Latina media dynamo NELY GALÃN, actress MARILU HENNER, heavyweight-boxing champion LENNOX LEWIS, "Apprentice" alum OMAROSA, "America's Got Talent" judge PIERS MORGAN, Ultimate Fighting Champion TITO ORTIZ, actor VINCENT PASTORE, and KISS bassist GENE SIMMONS. OMAROSA?? TITO ORTIZ? GENE SIMMONS?? This is going to be a hoot!

Break Time!

I thought I'd take a break from the business of reporting news and doing reviews to offer up my personal viewpoint on taking a break. I have been working like a demon to increase my blog traffic since the advent of real rank at PPP. And it is working! My blog traffic has doubled in little over 3 weeks and still climbing.

But taking a break is necessary for optimum productivity. Nobody can function on half a tank. So this afternoon, after receiving the book I ordered called Everyday Sacred, I am getting on the couch with this book and not doing another thing, at least after I finish the post after this one, (I have one more review to do)

Are you taking the time you need for yourself?

ABC's Political Radar

I have been spending some time searching for the best place to keep up with political news without the bias of one party over the other. I think I found that spot today with ABC's blog section and their political radar. I just read a blog entry about what Hillary thinks about the people who don't like her. Check this out if you want, like me, to keep up with what's going on but want to make up your own mind how you feel about what you hear and read and not be swayed.

Can Pamela Anderson Get Along with ANY Man?

I was reading a couple of other entertainment blogs this morning and saw that rumor has it that Pam Anderson and her brand new third, or fourth, can't keep track, husband were already getting a divorce. But I went to Pam's website and read her blog and it says they are working things out. But what is the deal? I bet she's a be-atch to live with.

Dan Folgeberg Dies at 56

Dan Folgerberg was best known for his song "Leader of the Band." Dan died Sunday at his home with his wife, Jean, by his side. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004 but the cancer was treated and went into remission. However, as happens, it came back.

I am sad to hear of this great singer, songwriter dying so young. I have a lot of wonderful memories of listening to his soft rock songs in the 70s and 80s.

Random Acts of Kindness

I get the feeling that people I know online think I am all business and a bit aloof, but what I am about to tell you I think will change your mind. I live in a very urban, though eclectic, neighborhood near downtown Dallas. If you look out my kitchen window you will see mansions, if you look out my living room window you will often see homeless people walking down the street or people catching the bus.

Up until two years ago I had never lived in a big city. I was born and raised and lived almost forever in a small, affluent, suburban town and I always had a car, which I don't now. So you can imagine the culture shock I felt when I ended up in East Dallas, afoot and now alone. But instead of being afraid or intimidated, I feel blessed. Everyday I try to find some way to do something nice for someone I see, as I walk to the donut shop, the grocery store, the convenience store, etc. While I sit and wait for the bus to carry me to the library I talk to the people there. I make sure and speak to those I pass on the street. Several times I have taken old clothes across the street to the halfway house that is there.

I have learned a very valuable lesson in all of this. Every human life is precious and each one deserves respect, no matter their circumstances. Acts of kindness should never be random, they should be part of our daily lives, an afterthought, a part of living.

Mike Huckabee's Son Dog Killer

I read this story at Crooks and Liars and it made me sick. But hopefully this will put Mike Huckabee so far out of the running you won't be able to even see him on the radar anymore, thank God.

His son, David, was kicked out of the Boy Scouts after he and a friend hung a stray dog from a tree, slashed its throat and then stoned it until it was dead. Nice family you got there, Mikey.

Comedy Central's Indecision 2008

I just discovered this site while cruising the sidebar of Crooks and Liars. Comedy Central's Indecision 2008 is one big hilarious spoof, but with real opinions and news on politics.

I enjoyed myself thoroughly and if you have a sense of humor about politics--is that an oxymoron?--you will too. Check it out and have some good laughs while you learn the REAL deal.

Hillary Sinking Fast

I have been reading a lot of political blogs over the last few days and was shocked to learn that Hillary Clinton is getting tons of hate email. One blog even said that the name Hillary has forever been tainted as a name for your baby. Hillary is also losing ground, and fast, in the polls. She lost ten percent of her women voters in the Iowa polls.

I have to say that I agree with some of the things I read in the emails about Hillary. She does appear to be very self serving and her association with less than above board financial situations and what appears to be her heavy handedness are two points that are definitely not in her favor. I seriously doubt you will be seeing Hillary Clinton on the Democratic ticket.

Worried about Britney Spears

I really wish the paparazzi would leave Britney Spears alone, but that won't happen.

Not even bloggers will give her a break. I know she's done some stupid stuff, but who hasn't? I am afraid this girl is about ready to self implode. And if she does, THAT is when everyone will be all sugar and, "poor Britney!" People make me sick sometimes.  Oopsies??? Get a life, dudes.

Pamela Anderson and Husband to Star in E! Reality Show

First of all, I didn't even know that Pamela Anderson had gotten married! But she did, on October 6th in Las Vegas to Rick Salomon. (He's a cutie, huh?) I did some research on him because I didn't know who the heck he was and learned that Salomon is the son of a former executive vice president at Warner Bros.

Salomon first became well-known after his short and volatile marriage to actress Shannen Doherty. (Poor dude!) The marriage was annulled after only nine months because Doherty was upset with Salomon's continuing relationship with Paris Hilton. And it looks like Shannon wasn't imagining things because I also learned that Salomon is none other than the man in the infamous sex tape with Paris Hilton. That means he and wife Pam have one big thing in common! Now news has it that Pam and her husband Rick will headline a new reality show on E! that is scheduled to premiere next year. The show will center around their married life, including their partying at various Vegas clubs and, yes, their work with the homeless, according to the magazine.

Christmas Music

Being single here at Christmas I find that the best thing about the season is the music. I found a radio station that is playing only Christmas music, old tunes, like Jingle Bells and White Christmas, and it really DOES help get you in the spirit of Christmas. I can't help but smile as memories surround me while I listen to these songs. It makes me grateful that I have these memories to keep me company.

Madonna Backing Hillary Clinton?

The day after Oprah hit the campaign trail to show her support for presidential candidate Barack Obama, drawing record crowds, reports have begun to surface that Madonna will be backing Hillary Clinton. The power of celebrities has never before been this influential in my experience. If the rumors are true, Obama may get a run for his money, for it will be about who's fans of Oprah or Madonna rather than the nominees. Fair? No. Reality? Yes.

But when contacted by Access Hollywood, Madonna’s rep said that while the singing superstar appreciates Hillary, she hasn’t “formally” backed her. “Madonna has not formally endorsed Hillary Clinton. She’s certainly spoken highly of her, but that’s it,” the rep told Access. However, Hillary DOES have star power behind her in the form of Barbara Streisand. And that's a BIG deal!

Jeopardy's Alex Trebek has Heart Attack

I don't know who doesn't love long time “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek. I was sad to learn that Alex Trebek was hospitalized after suffering a minor heart attack.  Mr. Trebek is 67 years old and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center late Monday night and was expected to remain there about two days for tests and observation, said show spokesman Jeff Ritter.  “Thankfully it was a minor heart attack,” Ritter said. He did not give other details.

Janice Dickinson calls Tyra Banks "Fat"

Photo of Janise Dicinson
I really cannot stand Janice Dickinson and now I have reason to like her even less. The brash, rude, obnoxious host of "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency", can you say EGO?, called her former boss on “America’s Next Top Model,” Tyra Banks, “fat.” She was talking with Al Roker on the “Today” show in an appearance to promote the third series of her television show.

Janice later claimed her remark was a joke that she made when Al Roker asked her what she thought of the body image debate surrounding Jennifer Love Hewitt. (And that's another thing I'm mad about, along with Ellen, who made a big deal about this on her show a few days ago, fat does not wear a size 6! people!) “Jennifer Love Hewitt is healthy, not emaciated, woman,” Janice said. You wanna see someone fat? I’m sorry, Tyra, Tyra Banks is fat. This girl is not fat.”

Mr. Roker asked Janice why she would make such a comment about Tyra and she said, “Well she is,” before quickly changing her tune. “I’m kidding ‘cause I love Miss Banks,” she said. “[My remark was] off the cuff, but there’s a controversy to build up your show by selling fat one week and thin the other. In the modeling industry, yes you have to be thin.” But your lips have to be fat, right Janice? :(

Will Smith Backs Barack Obama

Will Smith has joined Oprah Winfrey by using his star power to help Barack Obama in his bid for the White House. Smith told Access Hollywood, “I’m available for whatever he needs." Will Smith even called Obama over the phone to let him know that he was ready and willing to help in any way possible. “I’m not politically savvy as far as what to do, when to do it and how, so essentially I said, ‘I’m here. I support you and you let me know what you need,’” Will revealed of his chat with Obama.

As far as I can tell, Barack Obama is the most attractive runner we have so far, and I am not just talking about looks. He's a sharp guy, very intelligent and personable. I am just worried that there are factions in this country who will be gunning for him once they figure out he is actually a real threat to the presidency. But I am sure he is very aware of that. Good luck, Mr. Obama. So far you have my vote.

Controversy Surrounding the Movie "The Golden Compass"

There is outrage being expressed all across the internet over the new movie, "The Golden Compass," starring Nicole Kidman. People are mad because they say that the film is anti-religious and pro-atheism. But after reading this review by Roger Ebert I get the feeling that once again, like they often do, the far right has gone off on a tangent just because God is involved in the plot. It's just a movie folks. Did you get angry when George Burns played God in a movie? Or John Travolta was a cigarette smoking, womanizing angel?  And all you are really doing is creating more interest in wanting to see it.  I am not much on fantasy movies, but this one sounds like a cross between "Lord of the Rings" and "Rosemary's Baby" to me, which would make quite a fantastic film.

Closed Captioning Service

I think one of the most wonderful technological advances ever invented is closed captioning service. When I see those words gliding across the screen all I can do is be grateful for my hearing. Can you imagine living in a world without sound? But there are millions of people who do, and it is great that they can enjoy a television program just as easily as you and I with the advent of closed captioning.

But closed captioning has other uses as well. Maybe you want to leave the volume down on the TV for a certain reason. You can, and still be able to see what is being said by the characters.

Shooting at Two Colorado Religious Organizations

It gets pretty scary when you have to wonder if you will get killed when you go to the one place on earth where you should be able to feel safe, the house of God. But early this morning police searched a house in Englewood, Colorado that may be linked to the deadly shootings at religious organizations this weekend in a small town called Arvada, near Colorado Springs. The first shooting was at a Christian missionary center and the second at a Colorado Springs megachurch. The gunman and four victims are now dead and six people wounded. The Chief of Police of the city of Arvada, Don Wick, said there is reason to believe the shootings are related.

The gunman, clad all in black, attacked members of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, killing one person and wounding four. He was killed by "a courageous security staff member," Colorado Springs Police Chief Richard Myers said.

One of the four people who were wounded died late Sunday. Chief Myers said authorities from the two communities were cooperating in their investigations. Witnesses say the black-clad gunman matched the description issued by Arvada police after the slayings in their town. Brady Boyd, the senior pastor at New Life Church, said leaders of the nondenominational, evangelical congregation of more than 10,000 had beefed up security after the Arvada attacks. "Many lives were saved because of the quick action of some committed volunteers at our church," Boyd said. He said about 7,000 people were at the church. I know, I know, this is not the end of the world, but I sure do wish it were the end of guns in the hands of nuts.

UK Man Fakes Own Death

John Darwin, 57, is currently being questioned by police in northeastern England following his arrest on suspicion of fraud, a spokesman for Cleveland Police, the force investigating the case, has said.He walked into a police station in London last weekend -- five years after he was thought to have died after the remains of a canoe he paddled into the North Sea, off northeastern England, washed up on shore. Mr. Darwin faked his own death to avoid mounting debts. But his wife said he missed his grown children and was tired of being "dead."

Donald Trump Tipping Story a Hoax

The story that has been floating around that Donald Trump quietly tipped a waiter $10,000 at Santa Monica’s Buffalo Club is not true.  The Donald says he wasn't even in California. A site called Derober.com published a copy of a Master Card receipt with Trump tipping $10,000 on an $82.27 bill after dining at the Buffalo Club, but Trump told Page Six it was a hoax. "This was done by the stupid restaurant to get publicity," he said. ". . . It's not my signature." The Web site not only ran an interview with waiter Billy D but also posted a video of the supposed server walking to his car.

The Laws of Attraction

I definitely believe that as the bible says, "Reap what you sow." Nowadays they have dressed this one phrase of wisdom from God into a multi-million dollar industry with books like The Secret, that basically say the same thing, whatever you put out into the universe is what you will get back. In the mid sixties we called it Karma. Same message, life is like a boomerang, do bad and bad will come back to bite you, do good and that too will follow.

I think it's humorous that people need that message from the bible wrapped up in prettier clothes with a hefty price tag attached and the name of the newest flavor of guru to listen. Bible's a cheap, buy one for Christmas.

Gunman Opens Fire at Omaha Shopping Mall, Kills 7 and Self

Merry frigging Christmas.

This is breaking news. From CNN. A gunman killed eight people and wounded five others Wednesday at the popular Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska, before apparently turning the gun on himself, police said. They also say in the article from CNN that people were hiding in the clothes racks. Can you imagine shopping for Christmas presents and this happening?  What can I say? What a horrible thing to happen during the holidays.

An Accident Waiting to Happen

A report out of Washington says that there is a very good chance of an two airplanes colliding sometime in the near future. Here are the bleak facts:

  • Congressional investigators report no single office addressing runway safety issue

  • Number of dangerous runway incidents spiked in FY 2007, GAO report says

  • FAA taking chances, "ignoring too many red flags," senator says

  • Report also cites traffic controllers' fatigue, routine six-day work weeks

Tina Fey Slams Paula Abdul

Tina Fey, in an interview in the latest issue of Playboy, slams Paula Abdul's performance in 2005 as the host of Saturday Night Live. “I was pregnant at the time and probably a little moody, but I remember thinking, ‘She’s a disaster! I gotta prop this lady up.” Fey said Abdul was “disastrous … in the way she generally appears to be. “It was an American Idol sketch; she wanted to change parts. So Amy Poehler had to play her.” I, like so many of you, have wondered for a long time what the deal is with Paula Abdul. Is she nuts? On drugs? I just don't know, but she sure does act crazy, huh?

The Perfect Man

I have to tell you. I once thought that Robert Redford was the perfect man. He was gorgeous and he has always been involved in worthy causes. It is so weird, because the first time I saw Brad Pitt in "Thelma and Louise" I thought he looked so much like the young Robert Redford. And now I see that this perfect man is always putting his efforts into making the world a better place, just like Robert Redford did.

Brad is among those helping the most vulnerable in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. He told Larry King when he was on his show about the 150 affordable homes being built post-Hurricane Katrina, and why the project means so much to him, as well as the people who will live there. And this is just the tip of the iceberg for Brad and his humanitarian efforts.

A Poem of Mine

Bird Church
On a long black pew sit our feathered friends,

First giving thanks for a leaf-free view of their God.

A loner in the morning mist, hunched down in his gray coat,

steals glances at the rest of the congregation.

Communing in the form of respectful silence,

the birds save their singing for a less holy time; or for danger.

The hierarchy is evident,

even the deacons give reverence to Pastor Bird.

The service is a short one, a sermon on patience,

but a few rudely exit while the pastor is still preaching.

Closing prayer brings hearty twitters of wish you wells; and fly with God,

as the birds soar away to work for Nature and family.

Left sitting on the wire, the loner is in no hurry.

He’s a bachelor, free to fly at his leisure.

Still, every morning at Bird Church, he prays

to meet the crimson coated bird of his dreams.

Jesse Jackson Speaks at Sean Taylor's Funeral

While my son was waiting to leave for his flight back to Florida yesterday we watched the funeral of Washington Redskin's Sean Taylor, who was murdered by some punks in his own home. It was a sad affair, that funeral, and tears came to my eyes as Jesse Jackson talked about violence and what a terrible thing it is that we live with it everyday. Here is to you Sean. It was easy to see that you were a great guy who was loved by many. May you rest in peace.

Bah Humbug!

I am sorry, I am really trying to get in the Christmas spirit but it is hard when you start having Christmas music and Christmas movies, and decorations everywhere before we are even done with Thanksgiving. As a middle aged person I will tell you that this is not always the way it was. When I was younger you didn't see Christmas stuff in the stores, here Christmas music or see movies until around two weeks before Christmas. What about you? Do you love it that all this starts so early or are you a Scrooge like me?

Anxious for Results of Joe Kennedy Autopsy

I have had Joe Kennedy on  my mind ever since he suddenly collapsed and died at the age of 28 a few weeks ago.
But research shows me this morning that medical tests to determine the cause of death of the well liked, talented left-handed pitcher are expected to take six to eight weeks.

Kennedy pitched for three major league teams last season and spent seven years in the major leagues, playing last season with Oakland, Arizona and Toronto. He also spent time with Tampa Bay and Colorado. He had an impressive 43-61 career record with a 4.79 ERA in 222 appearances.

The Ties that Bind

I hadn't seen my son in a year, he's been traveling the country, working. But when he came into town Thursday, seeing him, hugging him, spending time with him this weekend, made me realize how easy family are together. We picked up as if no time had passed at all, I cooked dinner last night while he watched sports and played around on my computer, on MySpace. I had to laugh. I don't know what I expected, my thoughts about how things would be before he got here seemed as if I were preparing for a guest. However, even though he is 28 and has a family, it was like he was back in high school, me the mom and him the kid. It was comforting, and I smiled as I fell asleep last night, hearing his voice in the living room, on the phone, of course. :)

Britney's 26th Birthday Bash

Britney Spears turned 26 this weekend and celebrated by attending a party where guest like Sharon Stone and Paris Hilton were in attendance too.

Gossip Girls has great pictures of Britney in her fur coat and also of her blowing out the candles on her cake. They also say that Britney was reported to have taken a good looking man home with her from the party. As they said, Happy Birthday indeed!

National Anthem Left out of NFL Pregame

I was shocked when I read this post and the ton of comments at DenverPost.Com. Because of bad weather conditions a decision was made by the higher ups of the Pittsburg Steelers not to sing the national anthem before the game between the Steelers and the Miami Dolphins.

That's heresy! And you will read the outrage in the post and in the comments, though some of the comments are just plain stupid.

Top 10 Video Games

If you are at a loss which game to buy that gamer in your life I have found the place for you to start looking before you make your final decision. Yahoo Games has made this list of the top 10 video games with detailed descriptions of each game, the price, etc.  What a great way to save yourself a lot of frustration and confusion. Have fun and happy game shopping!

Evel Knievel Dies at 69

Known and recognized by the Smithsonian Institute as "America's Legendary Daredevil" Evil Knievel died yesterday at his home at the age of 69. I always loved watching him do his stunts. He was best known for a failed attempt to jump an Idaho canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980. Have fun jumping cars in heaven, Evel!

The Bachelor on Ellen

Ellen just came on and she announced that one of her guest is going to be Brad Womack, the latest bachelor and the guy who was the first person in the history of the show to have selected no one when it was time to hand out the final rose. Ellen is going to find out his side of the story. I am very interested to hear what he has to say for himself.

Also, the Rivera woman who won the title of Miss Universe and was harassed with pepper spray being put in her makeup and on her gown is going to be on the show too. A great day for Ellen watching!

Jordin Sparks' Debut Album a Flop

The latest American Idol, Jordin Sparks, has now taken over the unfortunate title of the worst debut album in Idol history, coming in at #10 on the charts. Sparks’ album sold only 119,000 copies, a sales tally that is also the lowest of any debut album of previous Idol winners. Oh, well, I guess that's the last we'll hear from Jordin Sparks. Meanwhile, ironically, Chris Daughtery, who should have won the year before, is kicking ass and taking names across the music scene. Go figure.

A Politician with a Sense of Humor

You find it pretty rare to discover a politician with a sense of humor. Most of them are too busy selling themselves to ever laugh at themselves or anyone else. Not so with Former Arkansas Governor, Republican Mike Huckabee, who outlined one special plan he'd consider for NASA's exploration of space.

"Maybe Hillary can be on the first rocket to Mars," he said. His witty response about Clinton generated cheers from the St. Petersburg audience.

My Son is Coming Today!

Yee haw! I haven't seen my son, Justin, for a year. That is the longest it has ever been that I've gone without seeing him. But he's a busy, successful man with a family so I understand. But this weekend he is coming to Texas to go deer hunting with his dad and his stepbrother in Corsicana. When he gets into Dallas he is renting a car and coming to my place first.

I am so excited! You have no idea. I only had two kids and my oldest one died two years ago, so this is the only child I have left. He means the world to me. I just know I'm gonna break down bawling when I am finally able to have him wrap those big arms around his mom. Justin is 6'7", and all heart.

Big Surprise--O.J. Pleads not Guilty! LOL

I would be afraid to know what goes on inside that head.

Anyway, O.J. Simpson's trial started today, the one where he is accused of theft and kidnapping for stealing sports memorabilia that was formerly his with the help of some friends, friends who have now decided to turn states' evidence, and O.J., once again, like he did when he murdered Nicole, is claiming innocence.

I wish that sucker would be put away for many years to come and that he finds a nice boy friend named Bubba.

Judge Jails People Over Cellphones Ringing

I guess this judge had finally had it. I can't say that I blame him. I don't understand why people think they have to be surgically attached to their cell phones. This judge obviously agrees with me. In Niagara Falls, New York, Judge Robert Restaino apologized for jailing nearly four dozen people over a ringing mobile phone in his courtroom. He paid dearly for his decision, however, because the state commission removed him from office over it, calling his decision to lock up 46 people after no one claimed ownership of the phone "a gross deviation from the proper role of a judge." Oh, well, Judge Restaino, at least you won't have to listen to those blasted ringing cell phones anymore.

Wonderful Weight Loss Stories on Oprah

Oprah is having people on her show today who have lost tons of weight, and I mean tons! One woman's skirt size at her biggest was over 100 inches around the waist. She lost over 500 pounds, and she did it without weight loss pills or surgery.I started crying when this one man, who lost 400 pounds over a two year period, said that the reason he started turning to food when he was a kid was that he was molested by the first friend he ever made and thus never trusted people again. These stories are SO very inspirational. It just proves that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to.

Charlie Brown Christmas

What is it about Charlie Brown Christmas that it continues to be broadcasted every season in spite of the fact that it is so old and so simple? I think that's the magic of it, the simplicity, and the music, and the story, and the characters....

I was flipping through the TV channels last night and was delighted when I caught Charlie Brown Christmas just coming on. I smiled all the way through it, and even found myself dancing around my living room to the music. I am really in the holiday spirit this year, which is surprising to me. I though being alone for the first holiday in years would make me blue, but the opposite seems to be happening. I am full of love and gratitude. Watching this show made me even more so, memories, as you get older, mean more and more, and I have wonderful memories of the years watching Charlie Brown Christmas with my kids.

Dancing With the Stars Winners Helio and Julianne

I love being right! I predicted that Helio & Julianne would be the winners of Dancing With the Stars from very early into the competition. Why? Because they simply were the best dancers, and that's what the contest was about. I think America did a great job of voting and eliminating the right people at the right time.

Marie Osmond and her partner, Jonathan Robbins, were the first to go home last night of the three remaining couples in the competition, which was no surprise. Even though Marie was totally entertaining during the whole season, she was far from one of the best dancers, though I must give her points for fortitude and a great attitude. The contest ended up being between Mel and Maks and Helio and Julianne. Mel is one of the Spice Girls, and boy is she built! There was routine she did where she wore a red velvet costume and all I could think is that I wished my body looked like that. But bodies were not what it was about, again, dancing the best won out, as it should have.  Congratulations Helio & Julianne and thanks ABC for a wonderful season of Dancing with the Stars!

Washington Redskin Player Murdered

What a terrible tragedy at the holidays! Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died Tuesday after being shot the day before by "an intruder who forcibly entered his residence," the Miami police reported. Sean Taylor never regained consciousness after being taken to a hospital.

Taylor, 24, died at 3:30 a.m. at a Miami hospital and they were treating the case as a homicide."The blood loss was too much. He

Sean's father said funeral arrangements would be announced soon, while a makeshift memorial was already sprouting up outside the Redskins Park, where fans have been leaving flowers and other mementos. Rest in peace, Sean.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton Christmas Shopping

Johnny Depp and longtime director and friend Tim Burton, who have a movie coming out December 21st called "Sweeney Todd" that I really want to see, were seen Monday shopping at London’s Forbidden Planet, the home of the finest in movie and gaming memorabilia / paraphernalia you’re likely to find anywhere in the world.

According to reports from CVG, “The doors had to be closed to the public while Depp and Burton went Christmas shopping and all this happened yesterday towards the end of the day.” The two were picking up bags of Dr. Who and Star Wars toys.

Letting Love Happen

I have told you several times about the guy that though I keep dumping him he keeps contacting me. Now, wait, I don't think he's a stalker, more like, I am beginning to think this guy may be truly falling in love with me. I am not being arrogant, but I have fallen in love, or maybe it was infatuation, several times in my long life with men who didn't have the same strong feelings that I did, so I know pretty much how this works.

Maybe he wants something he can't have, or maybe he really DOES like me, but I have to tell you, he keeps waiting enough time in between contacting me that I start missing him, and then, BOOM, there he is! Could this be fate? Should I open the door to my heart, or at least crack it open a bit, and see what happens?

Terrorists Dress Up as Bride and Groom

This is as scary as that guy looks! In Baghdad, a couple of suspicious Iraqi soldiers got wise to terror suspects disguised as a bride and groom trying to pass through a checkpoint along with their "wedding procession" outside the Iraqi capital, the Iraqi Defense Ministry said Monday.

The procession Sunday near Taji raised suspicion among the soldiers because most of those celebrating were men, an official in the ministry told The Associated Press. Soldiers searched the car carrying the purported bridge and groom and found that the couple were two wanted men: Haider al-Bahadili and Abbas Latif.

Going After What You Want

I have to tell you something. It is hard to admit that what you want might not be what society deems that you need. We, especially Americans, are so programmed to follow a certain life path, no matter that it might not make us happy.

I say find out what you really want, don't listen to anyone else, make decisions based on what is good for YOU and go after it! As an entrepreneur and a woman who has never followed the beaten path but as usually gotten what she wanted, and unfortunately sometimes, what she deserved, I wouldn't trade one minute of my unconventional life.

The Revival of Advertsing & Stuff

I have been brainstorming this morning and I am thinking seriously about reviving my old advertising business, Advertising & Stuff, that I created in 1993 and ran single handedly for 10 years. Though I like doing paid blogging, I need to make more money, for one thing, and for another I get tired of sitting in front of this computer all day long. It ain't good for the eyes and I spend too much time alone.

I am just in the thinking stages right now, but I am getting excited just thinking about getting back into sales. I'll let you know what I decide.

Former Bachelor Winner Arrested

I have been watching The Bachelor since the very first season, so I remember Mary Delgado well. She was the contestant who was picked in 2004 by Bryan, the sexy fisherman. Well, it looks like things didn't work out for Mary and Bryan, and maybe after reading this article Bryan will be relieved if he wasn't already.  Mary, who is also a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader, was arrested for punching her live-in boyfriend in the mouth.

Review of "Elf" with Will Farrell

I watched ELF last night and really enjoyed it. But I don't think that anyone but Will Farrell could have pulled this one off. The dude is seriously disturbed, Will Farrell, that is, and I love that about him! I don't believe there is a part he CAN'T play when it comes to comedy. ELF made me smile throughout the movie. It is the story of a human boy raised by Santa and his elfs in the North Pole. When he learns that he is human and that is father lives in New York City, he heads there to find his dad. His arrival in New York and what he does is one of the funniest parts of the movie. James Caan does a great job of playing the part of the dad and Mary Steenburgen the mom.  This is a wonderful holiday movie and really got me into the Christmas spirit.

Miss Universe and Pepper Spray

Somebody was pissed that beauty queen Ingrid Marie Rivera beat 29 rivals to become the island's 2008 Miss Universe. Ms. Rivera won despite the fact that someone put pepper spray in her makeup and on the evening gowns she wore.

The new Miss Universe was composed as she appeared before cameras, but once backstage, she had to strip off her clothes and apply ice bags to her face and body, which swelled and broke out in hives twice. Somebody is in BIG trouble. There is a major investigation going on and they will find out who did it, I am sure.

Heather Mills Has zero Class

She's at it again, but this time Heather Mills has really made a social blunder. In her speech, after accepting the coveted title of honorary patron of the Trinity University Philosophical Society, instead of sticking to the subject and graciously saying "Thank you" she began, once again, to use the pulpit to try to get people to feel sorry for her because she has been so mistreated by the press. She accused the press of treating her worse than a pedophile and murderer. She also tried to explain why she socializes with the rich elite, (as if those rich people didn't already know here REAL agenda) She said that it was necessary to mingle with the elite if she had to influence them to make changes. (Like marrying her?)All I can say is you are one unclassy act, Heather, and you need to get a life.

Happy Thanksgiving!

To you and yours, I hope this Thanksgiving is the best ever. Please take the time today to think of our soldiers, the homeless, those who are sick, or those less fortunate than yourselves and pray for them. Let us pray that the coming new year will bring prosperity and happiness to those who deserve it and justice to those who deserve that too. Happy Thanksgiving!

What IS it About Jessica Alba?

I have been wondering for quite some time why the guys are all nuts over Jessica Alba. I mean, yeah, she's beautiful, of that there is no doubt, but so are a hundred other actresses in Hollywood, models in New York, and women who are famous across the world. THEN, when I went searching for this picture of her I saw some REALLY racy pictures and it helped me to understand a little bit better what the big deal is. When your ass in in the air and you can see everything but your monkey men are prone to pay attention.

The Bachelor Picked...NO ONE!

The season finale of the Bachelor was a shocker, to say the least. It came down to Jennie and Deanna. When he sent Jennie home, I was happy because, even though she was a sweet girl, I thought Deanna was much better suited for him she was much more real. But to my consternation and I am sure that of millions of other viewers, Brad also sent Deanna home, choosing no one.

I have wondered several times about the sincerity of Brad and his true reasons for choosing to be The Bachelor. Even though he is handsome and a nice guy, he just never seemed to be genuine. He was always acting as if he were playing a part rather than really falling in love or looking for a wife.

Tonight there will be a showdown between him and Jennie and Deanna. This was filmed two months after the fact. I wonder if he will for once come clean and stop saying "I have such strong feelings for both of you" and explain what they hell he was up to.

The Future of the Blogosphere

I am in a reflective mood today and I was wondering what the future of the blogosphere will be. Will there be more and more blogs? Or will people lose interest in reading blogs? Will the blogosphere become the new newspaper? That is what I would like to see, not that newspapers would become obsolete, but that you could find instant information more and more often about what is going on of importance in our world without having to wait or watch TV. Bloggers are more prone to tell the truth than an anchor person is anyway, they are bound by their jobs if they are independent. What do you think?

Mr. Big to Be a Daddy

"Sex and the City" star Chris Noth and his girlfriend, actress Tara Wilson, are expecting their first child, a rep for the actor confirms to Usmagazine.com. "Chris and Tara are very happy and have always agreed to keep what is most personal in their lives private," Noth's rep says. Wilson is five months pregnant.

The source also said, "They live together and are very in love." Noel Ashman, Noth's co-partner of NYC hot spot The Plumm, told the New York Post that his friend Chris was over the moon. Earlier this week, Noth stirred controversy by calling the Bush Administration the "biggest tragedy in the history of the United States." I like him better already!

Katherine McPhee Engaged

Word on the Hollywood scene is that Katherine McPhee, last year's American Idol runner up, is engaged to be married to Nick Cokas, who is 20 years her senior. And no, she is not pregnant, although rumors are flying that she is. But the ring she sports, her engagement ring, is said to be a whopper.

Congratulations, Katherine. The only thing that bugs me is that if she were 42 and he was 23 everyone would be saying she robbed to cradle. That old American double standard.

Upward and Onward

I can't tell you how hard it is to finally admit to myself that I am going to be single for a very long time. I have always been in a relationship, or almost always, so it is a big change for me. But I also know that it is for the best. For the very first time I am getting to truly know myself, to be comfortable living alone and like myself, just my own company. This is the smartest decision I have probably ever made. Not that I won't date, I will I am sure, I like the company of men, but I will not be getting married or living with a man for a long time, if ever.

The Stupidest Thing I've Seen Lately

This takes the cake. Just when it appeared Julie Myers had cleared every hurdle in her quest to officially become the nation's top immigration official, a dreadlocked wig and a prisoner's outfit could cost her the job.

Myers, director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ran into trouble earlier this month after she and two other agency managers gave the "most original" costume award to a white employee who came to the agency's Halloween party dressed as an escaped prisoner with dreadlocks and darkened skin.  The incident drew complaints of racial insensitivity. What the hell? When did we totally lose our senses of humor?

Women Over 40

I got this in an email and HAD to post it. My response to the friend who sent it to me was, 'AMEN!!" Now if those foolish men over 40 would just be as smart as Andy Rooney. In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about women over 40:

"As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:  A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game , she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting. Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her. Yes, we! praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?", here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!"

Amy Winehouse is History

Amy Winehouse was booed off stage by her fans at her latest performance. She called them fools for buying a ticket in the first place. I think that makes her musical history. She came on stage half an hour late. She managed four songs but was slurring her words and swaying all over the place. One fan was quoted as saying that, “She fell into the guitar stand and dropped the microphone — it was atrocious. “The song she dedicated to her husband was so bad it was like swinging a cat round your head.” Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Barry Bonds Lies About Steroid Use

He is an all-time home-run leader, but the courts say Barry Bonds is also a liar. He was indicted Thursday on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice for lying under oath to a federal grand jury looking into steroid use among pro athletes.  "During the criminal investigation, evidence was obtained including positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances for Bonds and other athletes," the indictment read, according to the Associated Press.

Bonds attorney John Burris said, "I'm surprised," he said, "but there's been an effort to get Barry for a long time. I'm curious what evidence they have now they didn't have before." Bonds, surpassed home run hitter kind Hank Aaron, in August with 756 home runs. He told a grand jury in 2003 that he had never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.

What a Nightmare!

My computer crashed yesterday morning. I was sending an email and suddenly, nothing. The screen was blank. After much fiddling I discovered that my computer had bit the dust. I tried not to panic. I called a friend and she came over. We took the power supply out and went to Fry's and bought a new one. She replaced it, (this woman is a whiz!) but that's not what it was. I was just about in tears. Not only could I not get online, I was worried that I had lost all the poetry, short stories, my novel, pictures, etc, that I had collected over the last few years. But the main thing I discovered is that I am totally addicted to the internet! Not only is it how I make my living, but living alone, it is where I spend a lot of time socializing.

Anyway, I got a newspaper and I got lucky. I found a guy who had a Dell computer with and HP laser printer for $100! I am using it now and I love it. AND, I found a back up disc with all my stuff on it. So I have been spending the day getting things back to normal, re-entering my user name and password on all the sites I frequent where it was encrypted, etc. Thank God I am back!

Britney Spears Back in Court

My GOD! Can this girl not control herself at all? Now word is that she ran a red light with her kids in the car with her and the paparazzi has it all on film. Kevin's attorneys have asked for an emergency hearing to probe into yet one more bad decision on Britney's part. "Ms. Spears was being mobbed by paparazzi at the time," Spears' attorney Sorrell Trope told People. "She was distracted. This was not blatant irresponsible driving on her part." Then get a frigging driver!!

Heidi Klume on Ellen

The beautiful Heidi Klume was on Ellen yesterday and I thought to myself that she was so down to earth to be such a beauty. And her boyfriend, Seal, though he has the voice of an angel, is no prince charming, that's for sure. I admire the fact that Heidi saw the true essence of Seal and loves him for himself. I also loved the fact that yesterday, on Ellen, she wasn't afraid to be herself. When Ellen asked her what was coming up on her hit show, Project Runway, this season, Heidi said, "same shit." It was bleeped out of course, but Ellen and the audience, and me, we all cracked up. Heidi Klume doesn't seem to have a pretentious bone in her body, and that is a rare thing for a celebrity of her beauty and fame. Kudos to you, Heidi Klume!

Loser Shows

I am giving two new prime time shows a hearty two thumbs down this season. I consider them FILLERS, because they have great time slots, Cavemen before Dancing With the Stars and Samantha Who? after Dancing with the Stars and before The Bachelor. But if it weren't for that, I wouldn't watch either one of these shows, ever. I could turn the channel, but I am busy, or lazy, and just leave them on. I did try to watch both shows in the beginning but was sorely disappointed. Cavemen is just stupid, and I hate to say it, but even though I love Christina Applegate, I can't believe she agreed to play this ditz who has amnesia. Jeez. What the hell?

DateHookup.Com

Well I did it. I joined another dating site. This one I hadn't heard about before and when I discovered that it was absolutely free I decided I would give it a shot. I mean, heck, what have I got to lose? And who knows? Maybe at this new free dating site I will meet the man of my dreams.

It was SO easy to join! It took me less than five minutes to fill out the profile, which is pending right now, and upload a picture. But what I really was impressed by was the fact that on my home page is the most current conversations listed that are going on in their forums. Also, they offer me my own blog. AND, you can see who has viewed you, AND do a background check on someone from their site. So far so good. Very easy navigation and user friendly. I will let you know if I meet anyone special after my profile gets approved.

Twitter

I joined Twitter yesterday and really like it. If you aren't familiar with Twitter, I'll tell you what I have figured out so far. You sign up and once you do you have a little box that pops up and you enter what you are doing at that moment. You can invite your friends and they can keep up with you and you with them. You can also follow other Twitter members that you meet on the site. You can add the function to your mobile phone and IM. And you can put a widget on your blog or website that will show updates of what you are doing, and even what others are doing, right then, in real time. Very cool. I am now trying to figure out how to use Twitter to increase my blog traffic. I think it has that function,I just haven't had time yet to study it. I'll let you know, or heck, maybe YOU will let me know

Remember Our Vets This Week

This is the first damn thing that George W. Bush has done while he has been in office that I applaud. From this article in The Washington Times, "President Bush's 2008 budget includes nearly $87 billion for veterans — the highest level of support for former warriors in history."

The article is talking about how the government is asking all veterans to wear their medals in honor of Veteran's Day, which was yesterday, November 11th. But many former soldier disagree with the US occupancy in Iraq and say that wearing their medals would send the message that they back the war. All I know is that we should all fly our flags high and proud this week in honor of those who have died to keep us free.

Spice Girls

The new single by The Spice Girls called, Headlines (Friendship Never Ends), is being called a flop in the United Kingdom. It debuted at only number 20 on the charts and looks like it's going down from there, not up.

However, their reunion tour is totally sold out. It looks like it will be the only reunion necessary if their new recordings don't cut the mustard anymore. Oh well, they had a good run and they're having a great tour. What else can you ask for?

A Smart Guy

Ok, so I'm on the dating site last night playing around and I see Bill's on there too. (He's the guy I called and canceled dinner with, told him I didn't have romantic feelings for him.) But there I went, sending him a message, asking him how he's doing. He messaged me back and told me that he was very, very attracted to me and liked me a lot and that he was hurt but he would get over it after awhile. Well that just melted my heart! I didn't realize he liked me that much!

We talked back and forth for a couple of hours and then he called. He said something that floored me. I told him that I was confused, because I really did like him but I was always attracted to a different sort of guy, and usually to guys that were bad for me. He said that he thought women did that to keep from becoming truly intimate with a good man because they knew a bad man was a dead end street and there was no chance of them forming a lasting relationship.

Wow. I think Bill hit the nail on the head. We are going to try again, slowly this time, but exclusively date each other. I don't want to let a chance at finally having a good man go. I have new respect for Bill and am going to try shedding those bad pheromones that have gotten me into so much trouble in the past. It really IS what is inside a person that matters. So what if it has taken me till 52 to find that out?

I Didn't Realize

I had a friend come over at 9 am this morning for me to teach her how to begin blogging for paid to post services. She just left and it's almost noon. I didn't realize until I started teaching her how much there is to learn. For it's not just about making money, far from it. There is SO much to being a successful blogger that goes hand in hand with working for paid to post services, like quality, theme, traffic, etc. Very much a learning curve to success at this. But she left here with her new domain and a Wordpress blog set up, with a list of all the companies that offer paid to post services, and links to several helpful websites and forums that will get her started. Good luck Nita!

Easy Does It

I have been thinking about this whole dating scene thing and my part in it and here is what I have decided. Yes, I said I was going to give up on romance for a while. But I am not going to give up on meeting new people. There is nothing wrong, and everything right, with making new friends. I just need to slow down, relax, be myself, and let God take care of the rest.

I am talking to a guy that I blew off several months ago because I thought he was too old for me. But he is not too old to be my friend. And who I am to say what the future holds? I am not in charge here, only in charge of my behavior and reaction to life.

Estelle Getty

I am watching The Golden Girls this morning and it occurred to me that Estelle Getty, the actress who plays Sophia, Dorothy's mother, is one of the funniest and most versatile actors in show business. Her longevity in her career is proof positive that age has not been a roadblock for Ms. Getty, and I wanted to give kudos to her for her wit, great attitude and perseverance.

Vince Vaughn in FRED CLAUS

Vince Vaughn is one of my favorite actors and I can't wait to see him as Santa Claus' off the wall brother, Fred Claus, in the movie of the same name that is coming out soon. What a brilliant idea for a movie, very original, and Vince Vaughn is, in my opinion, perfect for this role.

I Am Fickle

Ok. This time I really give up. The date I was supposed to have last night? The one where I was supposed to cook dinner? Well, I got the potato salad made and then began feeling yukky about the whole thing. I sat down and thought about it for an hour or so and realized that I was trying to force an attraction where there wasn't one. I like the guy as a friend only. So I called him and told him that.

I believe it is time for me to fall in love with my OWN life and leave romance for the young, at least for a good long while.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

This is an update on the dating front. I have finally gotten up the nerve to actually invite the guy I have been seeing, Bill, over for dinner tonight. I don't know why I am so nervous, but I am trying to get past that today. I just need to be myself. He likes me, so who else would I try to be? And besides, I like me too!

I am grilling ham and have already made potato salad and will make some baked beans. I also have some Ben and Jerry's Peach Cobbler ice cream that is to die for for dessert. We are going to eat, relax and watch a movie. I'll let you know how it goes, but the way it looks I actually have a honest to goodness boyfriend thing happening. He's a good guy. It's about time I had a relationship with someone normal.

Man Finds 4.38 Carat Diamond in Arkansas

This guy deserves it. Chad Johnson from Murfreesboro, Arkansas has found approximately 80 diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park since moving to Murfreesboro in February of this year.

But he almost threw away his largest find yet. A cube-shaped rock plucked out of his sifters Saturday turned out to be a 4.38-carat, tea-colored diamond!  You go, Dude!

But Wait!

I said last week that I was giving up on dating. BUT, and yes, this is a big but, one of those guys I was talking about, the one who kept trying to pressure me into sleeping with him, well I told him to stop and he did! We had a long talk about the importance of waiting, of letting the relationship flow naturally and not worry about getting physical until the time is right. Of course there has been some kissing going on, and he's a good kisser.

SO, I think I have a boyfriend finally! He called three times last night. That tells me he's very interested. He has a good job, he's soft spoken, he is raising his two teenage kids as a single dad, and he likes me. I like him too. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hallelujah!

Now don't get me wrong, I like to hear a good sermon as well as the next believer, but I am very happy about this news. The gist of it is that the Senate is now probing into the financial records of the top TV evangelist. Their status as churches makes them a non-profit that is exempt from federal income tax, but also leaves too much room for dishonesty, in my opinion. I am aware that ministries need money to function, but some of these guys/gals need to be taken off the air. Have you WATCHED a religious program lately? Egad! Tammy Faye Baker taught them well, that's all I'll say. Oh, and HEAL ME!

Will the U.S. Always be The World's Keeper?

Maybe I have the wrong attitude, but after reading this article about how George W. Bush let the president of Pakistan know that he was unhappy with the way things are going over there, which are horrendous, I know.  But what about the frigging people in this country who need help? The article talks about all the hundreds of millions of dollars in aid we have given Pakistan, and hinted at a threat of intervention. Meanwhile, me and millions of Americans have no health insurance and people are sleeping on the street across America.
I just don't get it.

David Copperfield's Game Plan

I found this post at TMZ describing the document that tells David Copperfield's employees how to help him pick up women.   "The document describes how the assistants need to be heads-up for attractive women whom David can meet backstage after the performance. We're told the plan is to keep boyfriends and husband in the arena, adding "from time to time, boyfriends and husbands will give us a hard time and refuse to stay. If that is the case, try your best to get them to stay and refer to the "What to Say" sheet for help." Gag a maggot! What a dog!

Update on Settlement for A Million Little Pieces

This is really surprising. The book that James Frey wrote, A MILLION LITTLE PIECES, which was touted as a memoir but was later revealed to be filled with lies and exaggerations, has only had 1700 people claim the refund that was offered in the court case, suing Random House for millions of dollars.

Were the rest of the people just too lazy to claim their money or did they like the book so much they didn't care if it was fiction or not?

A & E Dumps Dog the Bounty Hunter

THANK GOD! When white trash like Duane Chapman get their own TV shows I know that the world is falling completely apart. But thanks to Tucker Chapman, the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter Duane Chapman, who was mad at his father for calling his girlfriend a nigger in a phone conversation Tucker taped, Dog is history. The advertisers pulled their money and A & E pulled the show.

Duane and his lovely, (yuk) wife can go back to being just plain old white trash again. Or no, I'm probably wrong, the way things work in this country is that Dog will write a book that instantly becomes a bestseller, even though he can't write, or make a movie that is a blockbuster even though he can't act. Our perspective is screwed up, to say the least. And that's my opinion. That's why it's MY blog.

Will Writer's Strike?

Today is the day that the writer's union members will decide whether they will go on strike or not. A strike by the Writers Guild of America, representing about 12,000 film and TV writers, would be its first work strike in nearly 20 years. If it were to drag on for months, a strike could threaten to slow down TV soap operas and films -- which have been stockpiling scripts.

Late-night TV shows like David Letterman and Jay Leno and the "The Daily Show," with Jon Stewart, would be in trouble first because of their topical nature. These shows are not typically written or recorded in advance. It looks like a pretty sure thing. Steve Skrovan, a screenwriter for Fox's "'Til Death," said a strike is all but inevitable.

What is Up With Men?

This has been my experience with the dating thing lately. When I am done maybe YOU can tell me what the deal is when men these days? I haven't dated in many years and things have changed, A LOT!
  1. He is 54 and collects shopping carts on the midnight shift at Wal Mart. I was trying not to be judgmental, at least he works, but he asked me yesterday why I was still even talking to him. Obviously he thinks the same thing I do. That he is a loser.
  2. He came on like gangbusters until he figured out that I wasn't going to sleep with him. Now he calls and we talk but even though I was interested it looks like I have been placed in the category of friend only.
  3. I've known him for a few years and yesterday decided maybe to give him a shot. We met for a couple of beers and he informed me that he didn't have any money. Then he borrowed $10 from me. I give up!

Dog the Bounty Hunter Racist?

Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman apologized for repeatedly using a racial slur in a profanity-laced private phone conversation with his son that was recorded and posted online.

Chapman is the star of A&E's hit reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter." The National Enquirer posted a clip of the conversation in which Chapman uses the N-word in reference to his son's girlfriend.

Personally I have never been able to stand this guy and his trashy looking wife. Yuk. And nothing he or she does would surprise me.

Weirdness of Dancing with the Stars

This season of Dancing with the Stars has had some really weird things happen. For one, just the fact that Wayne Newton wasn't eliminated right off the bat is weird enough in itself. He was as stiff as Frankenstein.

Then, Marie Osmond fainted on stage, and now Jane Seymour has gotten food poisoning. The clincher of the weirdness is that last night Cheetah Girl, Samantha Bryan, a judge and audience favorite and the first person to receive a perfect score, was sent home. This was a huge shock to everyone.

Happy Halloween!

Here is wishing you a fun but safe Halloween! If you have kids who are going trick or treating you probably know the basic rules of safety, but I would like to post them here anyway. The world is a much different place than it was when I was growing up. We used to often get things like homemade popcorn balls when we went trick or treating and it never crossed our minds to wonder if someone would poison us.

I can't decide if were were just lucky or if people are meaner. But hey, we only went to people's houses that we knew, too, so that makes a difference.

Here are the standard rules of Halloween safety:

Always use common sense.

Young children should always go trick-or-treating with an adult.

Never trick-or-treat alone. Have at least 2 buddies go with you.

Plan your entire route and make sure your family knows what it is.

Make sure that you are wearing a flame retardant costume.

Wait until you get home and your parents check your candy before you eat it.

Be very cautious of strangers.

Accept treats only in the doorway. Never go inside a house.

Be sure and say thank you for your treats.

Don't play near lit jack-o-lanterns.

Visit only houses where the lights are on.

Walk, Do not run.

Walk on sidewalks and driveways.

Cross the street at the corner or in a crosswalk.

Take a cellular phone with you if possible.

Wear a watch.

Carry a flashlight.

Heather Mills Is Nuts

Heather Mills was on the U.K.’s GMTV this morning and said that she is getting death threats from “a certain party.” She says she is “living in a prison.”

“I have a box of evidence that’s going to a certain person should anything happen to me, so if you top me off it’s still going to that person, and the truth will come out,'’ she said. “There is so much fear from a certain party of the truth coming out that lots of things have been put out and done.”

She started crying as she talked about her campaign to get the media to stop printing lies. She is taking this mission to the European Parliament to try and get the laws changed. Good luck with that, egomaniac. She is so powerful in her mind that she is asking the British people to stop buying the tabloid newspapers and magazines. She says she has had enough and has reached her breaking point. “I’ve protected Paul for this long and I’m trying to protect him, but I’m being pushed to the edge.”

“The media is abusing me,” Mills told GMTV. “I will investigate each and every one of those journalists. I’m going to change the law."Heather said that there is a “certain corner” that is feeding the media spin in her divorce case. She calculated that there’s been 4,400 abusive articles written about her.

Wildfires and Global Warming

This is worrisome news. Scientists have linked the increase in wildfires to global warming. Even though several of the present California fires have been discovered to have been started by arsonists, the statistics you will read in the article in the link above are staggering.

I am not a holy roller, but I can't help but think of what it says in Revelations in the Bible, that the world will end by fire. Scary stuff, that and the fact that if it does it will be by our own hands.

Kid Rock on Ellen

I love Kid Rock! He was on Ellen today and he sang his new song, "Rock and Roll Jesus." It was great. I didn't know that his album was at number one. He is so funny. He brought Ellen a Waffle House t-shirt. You know about his fight at the Waffle House last weekend, right? He didn't start it but it sounds like he finished it. Gotta love this redneck.

Mira Sorvino

  • I have always loved actress Mira Sorvino. After reading this story I love her even more. Mira is called a hero by the founder of Global Fund for Children, Maya Ajmera. The fund has given $9.3 million to more than 300 organizations in 65 countries and has reached more than 1 million children worldwide. Mira Sorvino is affiliated with Amnesty International and has been active in calling for U.N. action in Sudan's Darfur region where Maya Ajmera is doing so much good for children.

Update on the Dating Thing

I really don't know how many of you have kept up with my dramatic dating saga, but for those who have here is an update.

I don't know the first thing about what I doing! LOL Every decent guy--like many women who are smart but when it comes to men are attracted to losers--who is attracted to me I run off or run away from. I have always been that way. But hell, I am 52 and if I am not careful I will end up by myself the rest of my life.

However, I was listening to this line of a great song yesterday and dancing because it IS me. "I'm like a bird, I only fly away! Don't know where my home is, don't know where my soul is!"

So maybe being myself ain't so bad after all. (At least for the person who might love me that I leave)

Alicia Silverstone Snubbed by Alanis Morissette

This is too funny. Alicia Silverstone, who was once one of Alanis Morissette's biggest fans, says that her fan letter was ignored by the singer. Ms. Silverstone said, “I wrote Alanis Morissette a fan letter telling her how I loved her music and even mentioning the name of our mutual friend. I never heard back. She could have written or called me." Wha!!! “Alanis must’ve just lumped me in with her fans or thought I was some stalker. When I see her I plan to give her a hard time." Jeez, get a grip, Alicia. Maybe she's just not that into you.

The Judge Shows

I am so disappointed! My cable went out last week and when it came back on I no longer get several of the channels I used to. One of those is Lifetime. I used to watch The Golden Girls, Frazier, and Will & Grace every Monday through Friday mornings.

So now I have the TV on a channel that is showing those reality judge shows, like Judge Judy. The third one just came on, the third judge in a row. Some of these stories are so ridiculous! This one woman used another woman's pregnancy test and told her husband that she was pregnant when she was not. On the witness stand she finally admitted the truth. Then she stalked him after he left her. I felt sorry for her, but she has definite problems. I guess I need to turn this idiot box off and turn on the radio, huh?

Mother Puts Dead Baby in Attic

Insanity is a strange and very disturbing creature. I found this story at CNN.Com this morning that just made me bawl.

In Fayettville, North Carolina, the body of an 11-month-old girl that was reported missing once her soldier father, Ronald Earl Creech II, arrived home from Iraq was found dead in the family's attic, placed there by the mother. The child, Harmony Jude Creech, had been dead for several weeks. Neighbors had been complaining of a terrible smell. The mother of the child, Johni Michelle Heuser, told investigators she found the baby dead in her crib and that's when she put her in the attic. I can't think of another thing to say. The horror speaks for itself.

Kid Rock Arrested But I Still Love Him

I can't help it if I love this bad boy. I guess it is true what they say, you can take the kid out of the country but you can't take the country out of the kid, or something along those lines. Kid Rock was arrested in the early morning hours of Sunday after he had a fight at a Georgia Waffle House. He spent 12 hours in jail before being released. What started the altercation was that a customer recognized a female with Kid Rock's party and exchanged words with her. This escalated into a brawl between Kid Rock and that male customer and moved outside to the parking lot. At some point the customer punched out a restaurant window. Kid Rock left in his tour bus and was stopped by police about a mile from the restaurant. He and five members of his entourage were taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. The other customer was charged with criminal damage to property, a felony. That'll teach him to mess with a lady in the company of Kid Rock.

In the Stillness

I guess I just feel like talking lately. First I am telling you about my ex-husband's hobby and now I want to talk about things I am thinking about. Since I spend so much time reporting news, doing reviews, and generally working I supposed, since it IS a Saturday, that I deserve a break, huh?

I love silence. Often I have no TV or radio on and there is only the sound of the traffic outside and the birds singing. I am peaceful when things are quiet. I guess we all are, but I don't think enough people sit in silence and let the beauty of the world envelope them. It is very freeing and calming and I think more people should shut off the noise of the world now and then and just listen to the silence.

He Better Be Glad He's Not in America

Nobel prize-winning biologist Jim Watson better be glad he's in Britain and not America after what he said. In this article from CNN News, Watson, 78, who won the Nobel Prize in 1962 for discovering the double helix in DNA, is quoted as saying that he was "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours, whereas all the testing says not really."

Watson is an American living in London. That's a very good thing for him because if he were in America he would be in heavy doo doo. But Watson is no stranger to controversy and is known for saying stupid things.

In 1997, Britain's Sunday Telegraph quoted Watson as saying that if a gene for homosexuality were isolated, women who find that their unborn child has the gene should be allowed to have an abortion.

During a lecture tour in 2000, he suggested there might be links between a person's weight and their level of ambition and between skin color and sexual prowess.

"That's why you have Latin lovers," he said, according to The Associated Press, which cited people who attended the lecture. "You've never heard of an English lover. Only an English patient." And in a British TV documentary that aired in 2003, Watson suggested stupidity was a genetic disease that should be treated.

Uh, yeah...start with yourself, dude. What Watson doesn't seem to understand is that stupid is superficial but ignorant goes clean to the bone. And that you can be intelligent and still be highly ignorant.

Where the Mind Goes, The Man Follows

I ordered a 5 CD series called "Where the Man Goes the Man Follows" by Joyce Myers and it came in the mail today. I am listening to the first CD as I write this and I can tell you that Mrs. Myers is delivering a message that I really needed to hear.

One thing she said that even worry is offense to God. We are not to worry but to put our faith in him. She also told a story of a man who had a miserable life. He woke up every morning with bad thoughts and the rest of his day followed, as it will. But he started doing something different. Every morning when he woke up he began imagining an empty tablet of paper. He would envision 10 things he was grateful for and imagined writing them on this tablet. This process changed his life.

I am looking forward to listening to all of these CDs. I love Joyce Myers. If you would like to have these CDs you can go to Joyce Myers website and for a donation of any amount they will be mailed to you.

Will Hillary Clinton be the First Woman President?

When Hillary Rodham Clinton announced her candidacy for president of the United States I laughed. I have even posted here several times on my blog that though I thought Hillary would do a good job I didn't think she'd ever be elected, that our country wasn't ready for a woman president.

But today I read that voters across the nation are switching their allegiance from the top runner Obama to Hillary. I hate to hope for something that can never come to pass, but I can't help but wonder if maybe I was wrong and we ARE ready for a woman president.

I would love to see it. I believe our country would be much better off with a female at the helm. Women have a compassion gene that I honestly believe most men are missing. And they aren't slaves to testosterone.

Need a Virtual Assistant?

Running a business is hard work, even if it's just a small online business. There is a lot of work to do, a lot to keep up with. Wouldn't it be great to turn the daunting job of keeping up with your appointments, bookkeeping, research, networking, or other concerns over to a virtual administrative assistant? You might think this sounds far fetched, but you'd be surprised at how affordable it is to hire a virtual assistant through Agents of Value. They are a webmaster staffing firm that offers full time virtual assistants for hire at a very reasonable price. Sometimes two heads really ARE better than one!

The Bachelor Brad Womack

Is he a hottie or what? Brad Womack is this season's hunk on The Bachelor and I gotta tell you I think he might be the sexiest bachelor yet. That is what the rest of the world is saying anyway. Last night's episode made me happy because Brad sent the bitch Jade home. I never could understand what he saw in her in the first place. She was ugly, inside and out. My favorite and what looks to be his favorite too so far is Jill. She's a sweetie. He is definitely physically attracted to her and didn't mind showing that in front of all the other ladies. I can't wait to see next week when cry baby Hillary has a melt down because things are going her way and she has to leave the show because she's so neurotic.

Paris Hilton in Love

I haven't heard much about Paris Hilton lately and now I know why. The girl's in love with a former pizza delivery boy! Alex Vaggo came to America from Sweden on a vacation and ended up meeting Paris and landing himself a modeling gig. Did he ever luck out. Paris introduced Alex to modeling agent David Todd who told the press, “We have high hopes for him.  He’s a natural.”A friend of Alex's told press, “Alex had planned to end his travels and go back to Sweden – but now he is only going back for a few days. Paris is falling for him.” And Alex himself is psyched about his chances here in America.  “I’m thrilled to be in America.  I can’t wait to start modeling.”

Christian Music

I like to watch Christian television shows in the mornings sometimes. This morning was one of those mornings. It is stormy weather today and I was feeling down in the dumps too when I woke up so I decided what I needed was a good dose of Creflo Dollar and Joyce Myers. I feel tons better. But then I decided to leave the TV on that station while I was blogging and am now listening to what I guess is called Christian Rock music. I like it! I had never listened to it before and I gotta say, these Christian rockers are just as talented, possibly more talented, than many of the superstar rockers. I commend them for committing themselves to spreading the love of God through their music.

Tattoo Removal

Do you have a tattoo that you regret getting and want to remove it? Well, if you have heard that the FDA has proposed a ban on over the counter bleaching creams used for tattoo removal because of an ingredient that has been linked to cancer I want you to know that there are safer alternatives.

TCA is a popular non-prescription skin-peeling agent commonly used by doctors, health spas and private individuals to remove fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars on the face. TCA has twice been medically tested and proven to fade and/or remove tattoos on the body. TCA is also more cost effective when compared to laser removal.

Rapper T.I. Arrested

Just hours before he was set to perform at the BET awards show, rapper T.I. was arrested on weapons charges. He was nominated for nine awards. Chicago rapper Common, who won the CD of the year award along with T.I., tried to lend his support at the awards show. "I salute my guy T.I., who also won, wherever he is," said fellow rapper Common, while raising up his trophy. He also won lyricist of the year.

T.I. was taken into custody in a shopping center parking lot where federal officials said he planned to pick up machine guns and silencers he had his bodyguard buy for him.

Now for my opinion. I believe that the whole culture of gangsta rappers believe themselves to be above the law but are really overgrown kids with too much money and too little conscience. They are thugs dressed up as musicians and a scourge on society.

Al Gore Wins Nobel Peace Prize

This story at CNN News says that Al Gore has won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. He shares the award with the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for their work to raise awareness about global warming.

In typical Gore fashion, Al is more concerned that people understand how much of an emergency situation we are in as a planet. I couldn't agree more. Congratulations, Mr. Gore, (who should have been our president at one time)

Marine Corps Wants Out of Iraq

The Marine Corps is putting on the pressure to the powers that be to remove its forces from Iraq. They want to send marines to Afghanistan instead, to take over the leading role in combat there, according to senior military and Pentagon officials.

This would basically leave the Iraq war in the hands of the Army while giving the Marines a prominent new role in Afghanistan, under overall NATO command.

Sounds like someone is finally thinking with their head. But will G.W. allow it? I seriously doubt it. After all, it wasn't HIS idea. Perish the thought that someone else might one up him. That's more important than anything, right George?

Try a Little Kindness

I reported a few weeks ago on the woman who died in a Phoenix airport holding cell, Carol Ann Gotbaum. It appeared that she accidentally strangled herself while trying to get out of her handcuffs.

Now this follow up story brings a tear to my eye. Her husband says that if ONE person in the airport that day would have shown his wife a little kindness she might still be with us today. The article also says that Mrs. Gotbaum was headed to check herself into an alcohol rehab center, but was seen in the airport bar before her arrest. Her arrest came after she became irate when she missed her flight. A fellow passenger offered to trade flights with her and take a later one himself, but authorities wouldn't allow it, saying it was a security breach. When she was arrested reports say she was screaming, "I'm not a terrorist!" This story bugs me on so many levels.

I Should be Ashamed

The weather outside is perfect. It is 80 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, so why oh why am I not singing? I'm in a melancholy mood today. I think it's because I am finally coming to accept the fact that my marriage is over and that I live alone and probably will for a very long time. I have had a really difficult time accepting the fact that I am single at 52. I never would have dreamed it. I thought Shane and I would be married forever.

I keep telling myself that I am far from the only person who has had to go through this sort of thing, and how lucky I am to have my health, a comfortable home, food to eat, I want for nothing, but some days are better than others. I need to go outside and stay there for a while. Maybe the sunshine will bring me out of my funk.

Man Kills Mountain Lion

What else what this guy supposed to do? But wildlife officials in Boulder, Colorado are considering whether to recommend charges against him. He shot a mountain lion that was attacking a puppy.

At least two other mountain lion attacks have been reported in the Boulder area in the past month, including the September second death of a pet miniature horse named Bodacious in the Nederland area southwest of Boulder and the death of a 60-pound Australian shepherd in Nederland on Sept. 27. Sounds like the mountain lions are trying to take back their former territory?

Skydivers Plane Goes Down

My God, this is tragic! Seven bodies were discovered last night after the wreckage of a plane was discovered south of Mount Rainier, Washington. No sign of life has been detected. The plane was carrying nine skydivers and their pilot. The Associated Press stated on Tuesday that the three people whose bodies had not been found probably did not survive the crash.

The wreckage was in an area with steep terrain among heavy timber and brush, just 200 yards from where the last radar signal from the plane was detected, Yakima County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Cypher said. tThe front part of the plane was found Monday night, but the back section had not been found. Cypher described the crash site as "bad."

A single-engine Cessna 208 Caravan, the plane fell off radar at 8 p.m. (11 p.m. ET) Sunday, about a half-hour after taking off from Boise, Idaho, bound for Shelton, Washington, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The skydivers regularly participated in jumps with Skydive Snohomish in Snohomish, Washington.

Marion Jones Gives Up Medals

Marion Jones, five time Olympic gold medalist, has given up the medals she won at the Sydney Olympics days after admitting she used steroids. I saw her press conference on TV and it was really sad. I can't imagine how devastated she must feel.  The normal protocol would be for Jones to give her medals to the U.S. Olympic Committee, which then would return them to the International Olympic Committee. Though this is sad for Ms. Jones it does send a positive message to the youth of America. Honesty is the best policy, and don't do drugs!

The View Has One REAL Day

I don't like The View. Who wants to listen to a bunch of hens cackle? Yes, I am a woman, just not a typical female. I don't mean to offend any women out there, but let's be honest, when a bunch of women get together that's usually what happens. It sounds like a hen house.

Anyway, today for a few refreshing moments, when Meredith Viera made a return appearance and the first words out of her mouth were "How are you crazy bitches?" I DID cackle! You got it right, Meredith.

Brad Pitt Interview in Parade Magazine

I read an interview with Brad Pitt in the Sunday Parade magazine this morning and it really made me like him even more than I already did. Brad said that he has always had a persistence feeling of sadness, that he was born with it. I can relate to that, tending to melancholy myself. But he said that this was the catalyst that provoked him to start helping others who were less fortunate than him.

He REALLY gave it to the papparazzi, saying that one reporter got in his kid's face, shouting the kid's name. Brad Pitt thought that things would die down after his initial coupling with Angelina Jolie and their choice of a different lifestyle than other celebrities, the choice to immerse themselves in adopting children and donating to worthy causes, but he says it's just gotten worse. Brad said that he would never betray his beliefs and that his belief was in his family. What a humble, sweet and handsome guy.

Jena Nooses and John Mellancamp

Man, Jena, Louisiana is getting far more publicity than I think they ever dreamed they would. It started with 6 black teens beating up a white teen, but it has turned into a national concern. For one thing, nooses are being found all around Jena, and even worse, a news report I saw on CNN last night said that nooses are more common across the country than ever.

Then John Mellancamp comes up with some lyrics that inflamed the mayor of Jena, who called it racist. But all Mellancamp sings is "Jena, take your nooses down." I think he is, like John states, rebelling against racism, not promoting it.

Animal Planet

I am watching a show on Animal Planet where animals are doing tricks. The host is Mario Lopez and Danny Bonoducchi is one of the judges. It is very surreal watching these two former child stars on a show like this. It makes me wonder how they feel about that. Do they feel like losers, or are they just glad to get work?

But that's not what I came to talk about. I wanted to tell you about this horse! He is the smartest horse I've ever seen, well, except for Mr. Ed! His owner play shot him with his finger as a gun and the horse fell down and played dead. He then got up and when his owner said "kiss me" he did. He did several other things that were amazing.  Very cool horse, very cool show.

On a Spiritual Journey

That's me. Reading that book, "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert has solidified a decision I had been wavering on for several months, maybe even years if the truth be known. Ever since my son killed himself two and a half years ago I have spent my time living in shame, guilt and depression. I have been drinking a lot as a way to ease the pain. But the drinking and that lifestyle, seeing people sitting at the bar as if they are waiting for death to come a'knocking, is not working for me anymore. And I am tired of punishing myself. When my husband fell in love with someone else last year, I felt as if the bottom of my life had finally dropped out.

But I must go on, and since I have to go on, I have decided that I might as well spend the rest of my life at least trying to be happy. But I don't really know what happiness is anymore. I have changed. I will never be that carefree, smart mouthed, know it all I used to be. I have been humbled. Now it's time to get down to the real me, to find out who I am, and to see if there is a way that I can do good for others instead of always concentrating on myself and my self pity.

I am feeling so good about this decision, but change is hard. Wish me luck, pray for me. I have got to keep thinking that God has more in store for me than a life of loneliness and misery.
